Why I Finally Said Yes to Microblading with Jackie Brows and Beyond
For most of my life, my eyebrows were the thing I noticed first about myself. Sparse. Uneven. Brows that made me feel like I always needed fix my face before leaving the house. IYKYK. The emotional support eyebrow pencil becomes part of your personality. Mine lived in every purse, every diaper bag, every car console. I checked my brows constantly. Bathroom mirrors. Phone camera. Midday lighting panic. Did they smudge? Did I accidentally wipe part of one off while hugging my kids? Don’t even get me started on the anxiety I felt being in a pool. It sounds kind of silly until you realize how much mental space it takes up.
So, when I finally booked my microblading appointment at Jackie Brows and Beyond, it felt like being seen for who I am. Jacqueline Da Mata, founder of Jackie Brows and Beyond, is known for creating customized brow artistry designed to enhance natural beauty rather than overpower it. I had followed Jackie’s work for a while because the results looked gorgeous. Nothing harsh or overdone. People still looked like themselves, just happier and more confident. That was exactly what I wanted.

The experience itself was better than anything I expected. Her space is beautiful, calm, and welcoming. Jackie is so thoughtful and took time to learn my face, my brow shape, and what I hoped to achieve. I cannot explain the feeling of waking up the next morning and seeing eyebrows already there. No frantic filling them in before school drop-off. No carrying a pencil everywhere “just in case.” No checking mirrors throughout the day wondering if they still looked okay.
Mental weight had been lifted!
The healing process was far less intimidating than I expected. The aftercare instructions were simple: keep your brows dry for 10 days and do not touch them. Jackie sends you home with an incredibly helpful care sheet plus thoughtful little goodies that make the process feel easy and supported, like a plastic shower visor to help keep your brows dry and a brow brush for upkeep. She thinks of everything and tells you what she’s doing every stop of the way. That level of care has stayed with me.
This experience has been less about perfect eyebrows and more about releasing something that had made me feel self-conscious for years.
If you’re someone who has spent years filling in sparse brows, avoiding swimming without makeup, checking mirrors throughout the day, or wondering if microblading could still look soft and natural… I totally get the hesitation. I thought about it forever before finally doing it. Now? I only wish I had done it sooner.
